Non-residents
The New Brunswick Firearms Safety/Hunter Education Home Study course is provided as a service to adult New Brunswickers 18 years of age or older who are unable to participate in the classroom program. There are no participation restrictions for non-residents other than they meet this age requirement and are willing to travel to New Brunswick for testing. Non-residents should also note the following:
- Course participation, registration, and testing procedures for non-residents are the same as those for New Brunswick residents. Non-residents must write the Canadian Firearms Safety (Part A) and Hunter Education (Part B) Exams in New Brunswick through a DNR office of their choice to obtain a New Brunswick Conservation Education Card.
- Most hunter education courses taken in other provinces, territories, or states are recognized in New Brunswick and meet our provincial hunter education training requirements for obtaining a hunting licence. Proof of training must be provided at time of license purchase.
- Hunter education courses taken outside of Canada do not normally meet federal standards to obtain a Canadian firearms licence. This licence is required to possess and/or aquire firearms in Canada and is available only to persons who have successfully completed the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (Part A).
- Options other than obtaining a Canadian Firearms Licence exist for non-residents bringing or using hunting firearms while in Canada. For further information, contact the Canadian Firearms Centre.
